SAMHITA ASTROLOGY or LESSONS IN MUNDANE ASTROLOGY
Mundane
astrology is the astrology of collectivities, of nations,
of groups, of ethnic or religious groups and not individuals.
In Hindu astrology it is called Samhita.
Jyotisha
is divided into three parts:
1) Siddhanta
or astronomy,
2) Hora
or individual predictive astrology and
3) Samhita,
which is called in mundane astrology in English.
Here
I am outlining the data needed for Samhita astrology very
briefly for a clear understanding.
The data
needed
(1) The
birth horoscope or the foundation chart, if available.
You need
the birth or foundation chart of the nation about whom you
want to predict. For example Indian Independence was got on
the midnight of 14/15 August 1947 and we make a horoscope
of this thus.
Similarly
for Pakistan we have 13/14 August 1947 that gives a different
lagna and different planetary position and different mahadasha
sequence.
For example
India is now passing through the mahadasha of Venus and the
antardasha of Jupiter while Pakistan is passing through the
mahadasha of Ketu and the antardasha of Ketu, then of Venus
etc.
(2) The
Chart of the Constitution of the country concerned
India
adopted her Republican Constitution at 10/25 AM on 26 January
1950. Cast a horoscope for this time to make predictions for
Indian parliamentary and legislative acts from time.
The eleventh
house becomes very important for examination for legislation,
which can be normal and extraordinary like the imposition
of National Emergency etc. For example you can see the eleventh
house of the Indian Republican horoscope. Here the eleventh
lord is Saturn in the sixth house. You have Sun, Venus and
Jupiter in the eleventh house. Thus you see as many as four
planets connected with the eleventh house.
How clearly
it shows the results can be known from the fact that the Indian
Republican Constitution was promulgated on 26 January 1950
and within a period forty eighth years we have had as many
as eighty amendments to the constitution. Contrast it with
the constitution of USA, which is nearly two hundred years
old now but has had less twenty-five amendments.
